Accessible Video Project

Image
Intro Throughout working on this project, I found it exciting and interesting to work with my first project and editing it to make it more accessible to those with seeing or hearing disabilities. It helped me to think outside of the box and try to see it from their perspectives as well. It made for a really fun project and I was really happy with the outcome. Video In the video I used a sound effect that I made myself really easily. I simply took the recycling bin in my dorm room and shook it a couple times. The contents bounced around the sides and made a simple sound I used when I was describing certain things that can be recycled.

Commercials and Accessibility

Intro Throughout looking for ads for my blog post, one that really stood out to me was actually a foreign ad. It is an ad for Thai Life Insurance, an insurance company located in Thailand. The commercial itself is very good at inducing emotions and even won best advertisement of the year back in 2014, as mentioned in the title. There were some things I noticed that can be both good and bad when it comes to those that are either hearing impaired or visually impaired. Commercial a. For hearing impaired audiences, it helps out because of the subtitles on the screen. Another way it helps hearing impaired audiences is that it has plenty of visuals of what the man does throughout his day. b. The commercial could improve as well by adding extra subtitles for what people were saying during the commercial. When you can't hear it, the visuals can become slightly confusing which could make it hard to get the message of the commercial across. c. The commercial helps out v...

Sound Effects

Intro Through the course of the due date of this blog post, I have thought of many sound effects that could easily benefit my project. I had a lot of fun walking around and listening for sounds that might benefit the project. I also worked to make some of my own to see if I would actually find a way to make them work or not. Effects The first effect I put in was background noise from in the city of High Point. I went into town with friends over the weekend and just recorded the sounds of people walking around as well as cars going by. I felt that sound could come in handy for when I talk about community as its the sound from within our own community. The second sound is of stuff being shaken around in the recycling bin in my room. Since the majority of my video is about recycling, I wanted to have a sound for that as well. The final sound I have is from the fountains by Slane. It was a very relaxing sound as I walked by so I stayed there and recorded them for a few seconds. I...

Still Video Project

Image
Introduction With this project, I decided I wanted to focus in on something that I hear about a lot on campus. One thing I hear a lot about is keeping the campus clean and recycling. I decided that since this topic is something so major on our campus, I would make a PSA talking about that and the different things that go on with recycling around campus. Video In the video I worked to discuss the different places where you can recycle. I also linked it to keeping the campus nice and to be a place students can be proud of. I also made a section of the video about Recyclemania, which is an event I hadn't even heard of until recently that our campus gets involved in. It sounded like a fun idea and made perfect sense to include in a PSA about recycling.  Conclusion Overall, I had a lot of fun putting together this product. Some parts were hard to come up with what I wanted to do, but after it all came together, I was incredibly happy with the end result.

Audio Effects

Intro While looking and experimenting with different types of audio effects, I found it very interesting to see how the effects changed the audio. It helped me to see what improvements could be made to my audio with these effects and made for a very enjoyable time experimenting with the effects in different locations in my audio. Reverb One of the effects I found to be the most interesting was reverb. Reverb made the audio sound a lot richer and made it sound like the room I was in was much bigger than it was because it made it sound like it echoed around me. I chose to look into Reverb more because I felt like it could help me within my audio at multiple different points. One way I feel it can help me is to make it sound like I am in much bigger places during certain points in my PSA. I think it could work to give off the effect that I am somewhere that I'm really not and can also help to enhance my audio. Delay Effect In a similar way to reverb, I felt like the del...
