Good Example This photostory has a really good example of using a lead photo. The first photo in the story was very big and really catches the eye so that the reader knows where to start reading at. I think the lead photo also does a great job of progressing into the rest of the story by showing who the subject of the story is which really helps out the rest of the photos as well as the story itself.  Bad Example Unlike with the photostory before, this photostory has a very bad example of a lead photo. With the way the pictures are organized as well as sized, it is very hard to tell which one of the photos is the lead photo. Without a clear lead photo, it is really hard for the reader to tell where the story is supposed to start and can make it even harder to know where the story is supposed to progress from after the reader chooses what they think the lead photo is. The setup of this photostory overall makes it very hard to figure out the order of the story ...

Distracting Elements

Image
Original Picture With the original photo I set it up so that the baseball was in the center of the picture. However I also took it so that the bottle of water and the pencil holder were distractions since they were each on the sides of the baseball and really distract those who are viewing the picture. I also took it at a lower angle as a distraction so that it would take away from the baseball and more at the awkward low angle of the photo. With my edited photo I cropped out the sides as well as the bottom to really put the baseball in the center of the photo. It helped to take away the distraction of the extra items as well as the awkward angle of the photo so that it really focused in on the baseball. I also added a levels adjustment layer in order to enhance the colors on the baseball. The mask I applied for the adjustment layer focused in on just the baseball and did not change the levels on the background of the photo as to not take away from the enhancement of the base...

Aesthetics in Baseball

Image
Aesthetics When it comes to objects in our lives, anything can have aesthetics when looked at in the proper way. That is why with this assignment I decided to use my 2013 Baltimore Orioles baseball to see what ways I could show these different ideas. As I worked through taking the pictures, I discovered that there was a lot more that I could do than I had originally thought, which made for a fun photo shoot of taking all types of different pictures of something as simple as a baseball. Detail The first picture that I decided to take was one that showed detail in the baseball. With this picture I wanted to get closer in on the stitching to show what worked to keep the cover of the ball together. This was a fun shot to take because I wanted to get a detailed enough show to show the ties in the stitching as well as the detail on the cover of the ball itself. Symmetry With this photo I wanted to take advantage of the stitching of the ball as I did in the detail shot. My goa...

My Introduction

About Me My name is Alec Boyer. I'm from Pennsylvania but nowhere near any of the big cities that exist there.  I am a freshman at High Point University and my field of study is Sports Communications. My goal with my degree used to be 1 singular thing with no other options I wanted to pursue but recently I ended up changing that in my head to expand my options. My goal now is to either become a baseball announcer (which was my original goal), or to become a sports journalist. I decided to expand just off of baseball announcer since I also do enjoy writing about sports and I want to see which one I enjoy more over time. Plenty of Interests My major interests are sports as well as video games and they have been some of my biggest interests for a majority of my life. With sports I enjoy to watch them more than I do to actually play them. I enjoy watching football, baseball, and basketball and I also really enjoy the statistical side of the sports as well. My interest in sports a...
